A South Coast harbor which had its entrance clogged by sand, and was shut down over the weekend is back in business today.
A dredge cleared enough of the buildup at Santa Barbara Harbor for it to reopen this morning. The passageway is still limited, but will be widened as the dredge continues to operate this week.
The closure affected fishermen who use the harbor, as well as popular whale watching and sunset tours.
Harbors along the coast have been seeing an earlier sand buildup than usual because of El Nino-fueled storms.
