A Central Coast city is set to once again look at what have become controversial plans to build a new fire station.
The City of Lompoc is considering construction of a 23,000 square foot complex in the northwest part of the city, at Aviation Drive and North O Street.
City Council members agree a new facility is needed to replace an old, existing one, but some feel that the proposed plan is too expensive. The $14 million dollar price tag would actually double before it’s paid off because of the cost of financing it over time.
The plan was rejected on a 3-2 vote last December, but the council is scheduled to take it up again when it meets tomorrow night.
