Posted on Thursday, February 25, 2016 12:44pm

A state senator representing the Central and South Coast has introduced a bill to help disabled veterans with jobs in public schools.

SB 1180 would give disabled veterans transitioning to jobs in public education extra sick leave time for medical, and VA appointments during their first year on the job.

Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara says the bill would insure the veterans would get their support they need without putting their new jobs in jeopardy.

The new bill is a companion to legislation Jackson sponsored last year which is now law which gives extra medical leave to disabled veterans who are new state employees.
