Ventura County Looking At Proposed $5.2 Million Dollar Contract To Run New Mental Health Facility

Posted on Monday, February 22, 2016 2:31pm

Ventura County currently has to send some people who have serious mental health issues out of the county, because it doesn’t have a facility capable of safely handing patients who need to be in a locked center.

The County is currently in the process of building a 16 bed center called Horizon View next to Camarillo Airport.

Tomorrow, County Supervisors will consider approving a two year, $5.2 million dollar contract with the Telecare Corporation to operate the facility. County officials selected Telecare through a bid process, and are hoping to have the company in place for the anticipated opening of the facility this summer.

Horizon View will provide a place for in-county treatment of serious mental health cases which require inpatient treatment, like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder.
