A South Coast community’s City Hall complex could soon also become home to a college.
The Ventura City Council tonight is set to consider a proposal to lease more than 20,000 square feet of mostly empty space in its City Hall North complex to Brooks Institute.
Brooks currently has a facility just outside of the city limits, but wants to move to the downtown Ventura area, and have more of an urban campus. It offers degrees in different aspects of the visual arts, from still photography to film.
The deal would give Brooks the fourth and fifth floors of the Poli Street building. Some existing tenants would be consolidated in other parts of the building. It would boost city revenues from the building by more than $150,000 a year.
