It’s being called the toughest fair pay law in the nation, and it will soon take effect in California, thanks to a state senator from Santa Barbara.

With women making on average 84 cents to the dollar a man is making for doing the same work, Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara proposed steps to close loopholes in existing laws.

The bill was signed into law yesterday.
