Brushfire Chars More Than 160 Acres Of Land In Santa Paula Area; Now 50% Contained

Firefighters are hoping to fully contain a brush fire today which threatened dozens of homes in Ventura County, and prompted some evacuations.

The 164 acre blaze is now 50% contained, and firefighters hope to continue to make progress towards full containment throughout the day today.  Homes are no longer threatened by the fire.  Exactly what started it is still unknown, but investigators believe it was human caused.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco was on hand at the fire scene, near Santa Paula Airport.
