It’s the South Coast’s biggest economic window to the world, with billions of dollars in goods from bananas to brand new BMW’s passing through it annually.
That makes security a big concern at the Port of Hueneme, with issues ranging from serving as a portal for hidden, dangerous cargo to potential terrorism.
Yesterday, more than a hundred people involved with the issue of port and coastal security to part in a conference at the port.
