Santa Barbara County firefighters, as well as firefighters from other agencies are getting the upper hand in a brush fire northeast of Lompoc.
The fire broke out just after 4 p.m., sending up a huge plume of smoke visible for miles.
No structures are reported to be in danger from the fire in the Harris Grade area, which has burned between 10 and 20 acres of brush.
Harris Grade Road was closed by the blaze. A half dozen aircraft were used to help stop the spread of the flames.
The cause of the blaze is unknown.
