Los Padres National Forest Ramps Up Fire Restrictions Due To Brush, Forest Fire Danger

Posted on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 1:58pm

A streak of hot, dry weather combined with extremely dry vegetation has prompted the Los Padres National Forest to once again ramp up fire restrictions, effective immediately.

Wood and charcoal fires are banned in all areas of the national forest, including campgrounds.  People with permits can continue to use gas, petroleum, or liquid fuel stoves in designated camp sites.

Smoking is banned in all areas of the national forest, except for in designated campfire sites, buildings, or inside of vehicles.

And, while hunting is still permitted for those with licenses, target shooting is prohibited except for those with special use permits.
