Pilot Program Tries To Slow Down Shipping in Santa Barbara Channel To Reduce Air Pollution, Decrease Chances Of Whales Being Struck

Posted on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 12:06am

Cargo ships passing through the Santa Barbara Channel are a major source of air pollution.

They are also responsible for sometimes striking, and killing whales.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports the new effort is trying to deal with both of those issues, by slowing down the ships.
