A television news anchor who was a household fixture in Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties, as well as the rest of Southern California has died.
Jess Marlow worked as a reporter, and anchor for KCBS-TV, and KNBC for more than three decades, starting in the mid-1960’s
He co-anchored newscasts with Tom Snyder, Tom Brokaw, and Connie Chung. Marlow was well known for his political reporting, and was the longtime host of KNBC’s local Sunday morning political roundup program, which is called “News Conference.”
He retired in 1997, but then came out of retirement for three years to host a public affairs program on then PBS station KCET.
Marlow had been battling Alzheimer’s Disease.
He died at a nursing home in Colorado.
Marlow was 84 years old.
