Underage Alcohol Sales Sweep Targets Adults In Ventura; Two Arrested

Posted on Friday, July 25, 2014 12:18am

Ventura was the scene of a sting operation this week intended to discourage people from buying alcohol from minors.

Agents from the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control used underage decoys to stand outside of stores, to ask adults if they would buy liquor for them.

Most of the 39 people contacted said no, but two agreed to illegally buy liquor for the decoys, and were arrested.  The penalty for purchases of this type is a minimum $1,000 fine, and 24 hours of community service.
