A longtime civic leader on the Central Coast has died.
Jack Adam, Junior was a part of a pioneering farming family in the Santa Maria Valley.
After graduating from college, he served in the military, and then returned to Santa Barbara County where he got into the farming business.
He also became involved in local government, serving as a Santa Barbara County Planning Commissioner, and Santa Maria City Councilman.
Adam was honored for his community service by being selected as Grand Marshal of the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo parade.
He had been battling cancer.
Adam was 86 years old.
