Mountain Lion Warning Issued By Central Coast City

Posted on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 6:44pm

A Central Coast city has issued a mountain lion warning, after two sightings were reported in a neighborhood.

The Morro Bay Police Department issued the alert after the reports on the 2300 block of Nutmeg Avenue were confirmed.

It’s a rural part of the city, with hills near some homes.

Officials are recommending that children, and pets not be left alone outside during the early morning, dusk, and night hours, when mountain lions are most active.

State Fish and Wildlife experts also say you shouldn’t leave pet foot outside, because it may attract small mammals which mountain lions may then track, and eat.
