State Board Of Equalization Gives High Marks To Santa Barbara County Assessor’s Office

Posted on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 2:04pm

A new State Board of Equalization report says the Santa Barbara County Assessor’s Office is doing a good job of dealing with properties in the county, especially in the face of budget cuts.

The board released the results of a study it does on every county assessor’s office every five years.

The 64 page study says Assessor Joe Holland has improved the overall quality of operations, despite budget reductions during recent years.

It notes that more paperwork has been automated, reducing work and saving time.

The report does suggest about a dozen minor changes to further improve efficiency.

The county assessor’s office handles a $62 billion dollar plus assessment role.
