Man Accused Of Trying To Sell Thousands Of Dollars Worth Of Fireworks In Ventura County

Posted on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 6:30pm

Police say they’ve arrested a man who was trying to sell thousands of dollars worth of dangerous fireworks in Ventura County, including rockets and mortars.

Oxnard Police say they received information that illegal fireworks were being sold from a business on the 1100 block of Industrial Avenue.  Detectives searching the business say they found 25 kinds of fireworks, with some labeled as pyrotechnics.

Christian Perez of Oxnard was arrested for selling, and possession of explosives.  The fireworks were seized, and safely destroyed.

Fireworks are completely illegal in Ventura County, with the exception of Fillmore, where so-called “safe and sane” fireworks can be purchased, and used within the city limits.  Fireworks are banned in all areas of Southern Santa Barbara County.
