Ventura County Planning Commission To Decide Controversy About Events Center

Posted on Thursday, June 19, 2014 12:46am

An events center used for weddings, and other celebrations in Ventura County is at the center of controversy this morning.

The Tropical Paradise event venue on the 10000 block of Santa Rosa Road, in the Santa Rosa Valley is seeking to renew its operating permit, and expand the days events can be held from weekends to Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  But, some neighbors upset with noise, and the fact alcohol is served at events are asking that a five year extension be denied.

County planners have recommended the permit be granted, but that the expansion to Fridays be denied, and additional noise and operating hour limits be imposed.

It will be up to the Ventura County Planning Commission to make a decision after it hears the matter when it meets in Ventura later this morning.
