Coastal Security Exercise On South Coast Tests Abilitity To Deal With Terrorism

Posted on Thursday, June 19, 2014 1:50pm

What would happen if terrorists hijacked a whale watching boat full of people, or a charter fishing craft off the South Coast?

A coalition of local, state, and federal agencies is taking part in a four day drill wrapping up today called Coastal Trident.

Port security is another of the issues addressed in the drills, with some of the activity hosted by the Port of Hueneme.

The exercises involved land, air, and sea responses, with agencies ranging from Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties to the FBI, and Coast Guard.
