New Ventura County Grand Jury Says Oversight Of Development By City Of Moorpark Is Lax

A new Ventura County Grand Jury report says one city has serious problems managing its development issues.

The Grand Jury says Moorpark’s Community Development Department has fragmented record keeping which make it difficult to keep up on application, permitting. and compliance issues.

And, citing one specific case, the report says the Moorpark City Council ignored the advice of its own attorney, and approved a new business not permitted by the zoning for the area.

The Grand Jury is calling on the Moorpark City Council to reexamine its policies, procedures, and training for dealing with developers, and for the Community Development Department to improve its record keeping.
