Santa Barbara County Supervisors May Weigh In On State Gun Control Proposal

Posted on Monday, June 16, 2014 4:41pm

Santa Barbara County may weigh in on the gun control issue in the wake of the Isla Vista rampage last month, which left six UC Santa Barbara students dead, and 13 people injured.

Santa Barbara County Supervisors tomorrow will look at whether to take a position on AB 2014, a proposal to establish a process for a gun violence restraining order.  The legislation, which is co-authored by Democratic State Assemblyman Das Williams of Santa Barbara, would allow the seizure of firearms from people who pose a significant risk of harming themselves, or others.

The bill has already been passed by the State Assembly, and is now awaiting consideration by the State Senate.
