Auto Club Offering Free Theft Deterrent Etchings For Vehicles In Santa Barbara

Posted on Monday, June 16, 2014 1:55pm

The Auto Club of Southern California is offering to etch vehicle identification numbers on car windows for free tomorrow in Santa Barbara, to help deter thieves.

The etchings hinder thieves, because in order to get rid of them they have to replace the whole vehicle window.

The free clinic will take place in the lower level parking area of Macy’s, at La Cumbre Plaza.  The clinic will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., with the etching process itself taking less than ten minutes.

The Auto Club event is being co-hosted by the CHP, the Santa Barbara Police Department, and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
