A 15 year old Camarillo boy is in custody, and undergoing a mental health evaluation after Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies say he threatened to kill a classmate, shoot up Camarillo High School, and then kill himself.
Deputies learned about the threat at around 2 p.m. yesterday, just as graduation ceremonies were getting underway at the high school. With several thousand people on hand, deputies were put on alert at the ceremony.
Other deputies went to the teen’s house, where they took him into custody without incident. They say he was cooperative, and admitted making a threat to the other student, but said he had not intention of doing it. The teen was booked on a charge of making criminal threats, and was taken in for a mental health evaluation.
