Efforts to buy, and preserve hundreds of acres of prime ocean view land on the Central Coast have received a big boost, with a four million dollar state grant.

The Land Conservancy for San Luis Obispo County is trying to purchase the 900 acres of land east of Pismo Beach.

A developer has given the conservancy until August 1st to raise $10 million dollars for the deal.

Since going public with the effort in January, the Conservancy has raised $5.6 million dollars.

San Luis Obispo County Supervisors allocated $1.1 million dollars towards the effort, and yesterday, the drive got a huge boost, with the State Coastal Conservancy kicking in $4 million dollars.

The Conservancy is trying to raise a total of $12 million dollars, so there will also be money to preserve, and manage the land after the deal is complete.
