Former Congressional Aide Gets 20 Years, To Life Sentence For Fatal DUI Hit And Run Crash In Santa Barbara County

A former aide to a Santa Barbara congresswoman has been formally sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for a DUI hit and run crash which killed a woman.

Raymond Victor Morua stuck, and fatally injured Mallory Dies in downtown Santa Barbara last December.  Santa Barbara Police say he fled the scene, but the crashed a few blocks away.

His blood was more than double the legal limit when he was arrested.

The 33 year old man initially pled not guilty to the charges, but later entered guilty pleas.

He will have to serve at least ten years before he’s eligible for parole.

Morua was an aide to Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps of Santa Barbara.
