House Of Representatives Passes Amendment By Santa Barbara Congresswoman To Help Military Families

Posted on Thursday, May 22, 2014 11:50am

The House of Representatives approved a defense spending legislation amendment authored by a Santa Barbara Congresswoman to help military families with  breastfeeding supplies, and counseling.

The legislation by Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps would bring breastfeeding coverage for military families in line with what’s required in private insurance plans as a result of the Affordable Care Act.  It would make changes to the TRICARE insurance program, which is the federal health care program for active, and retired service members, and their families.

A similar bill has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri.
