Man In Standoff With SWAT Team In San Luis Obispo Surrenders

Posted on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 3:31pm

A nearly two hour long SWAT team incident on the Central Coast ended peacefully, after a man sought by authorities surrendered.

The incident started at around 2 p.m. Wednesday, when officers tried to arrest a man wanted on a warrant in Pismo Beach at a home on the 100 block of Stenner Street, in San Luis Obispo.

The man refused to come out, and it was believed he was armed.

A SWAT team was deployed, and efforts were made to try to get the man to give himself up.  Police say that around 3:30, Austin Ross came out of the house, and surrendered.  He was wearing a Halloween mask, possibly to obscure his face from the media.

The 29 year old Grover Beach man was arrested for auto theft, but he could face additional charges.
