Firefighters say they’ve been holding their own against a brushfire which threatened hundreds of homes, and blackened about 600 acres of brush in the Lompoc area.
The Miguelito Fire still officially remains at 50% contained, but firefighters today have been making progress in firming up containment lines. It began at about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on the 2500 block of San Miguelito Road, and spread rapidly.
It’s expected that firefighters will have an update on containment efforts this evening.
No homes were damaged, or destroyed. All evacuation orders were lifted Tuesday night.
More than 500 firefighters have been fighting the blaze today.
