It’s an almost forgotten opera, but not only did it have the unusual distinction of being a Broadway hit, it won a Pulitzer Prize.

“The Consul” is the dramatic story of a woman living in an oppressed nation who’s desperately seeking papers to allow her family to leave the country.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports the opera first performed in 1950 being revived by Opera Santa Barbara this weekend.
