Ventura County To Look At Issue Of Encroachment On County Roads By Thousands Of Property Owners

Posted on Friday, April 18, 2014 4:43pm

Ventura County Supervisors are going to take on a touchy issue.

Public Works officials say that thousands of properties in the county are encroaching on county road right of ways, with everything from walls, to fences and landscaping.

A study of one area alone, the Silver Strand area near Oxnard, found more than 600 violations.

Public Works officials have been working with some citizens committees to look at the issue.

Now, officials are going to county supervisors next week to ask for direction in setting guidelines for encroachment, and for guidance in how to deal with current violators.
