Gas Line Rupture Causes Some Evacuations, Street Closures In Ojai

Several blocks of downtown Ojai are closed, and there have been some evacuations as a result of a gas line rupture.

It happened just around 2 p.m., on the 200 block of North Montgomery Street.

Some businesses, four houses, and a small high school, Chaparral High School, have been evacuated, and a number of streets in the area are closed.

Gas company crews are on scene, but there’s no word on how long it will take to repair the damage.

Ventura County Fire Department officials say construction in the area may have caused the rupture, but are still investigating.
