Police Say Santa Barbara Man Had $250,000 Worth Of Stolen Antiques, Collectables

Posted on Friday, March 28, 2014 2:27pm

A Santa Barbara man has been arrested after police say he was in possession of a quarter of a million dollars worth of antiques, and collectibles stolen from an elderly antique store owner.

Santa Barbara Police detectives say that over the last three to four months, Pablo Sela received the items from an antique store on the 700 block of Anacapa Street.

The 83 year old owner has been in poor health, and the store has been mostly closed recently. Investigators say that someone has been stealing items from a locked storage area, with a total loss up to two million dollars.

This week, detectives say they discovered Sela was in possession of a number of stolen items.  After getting search warrants for the 49 year old man’s home, his tattoo shop, and a friend’s house, they recovered more than 200 stolen items.

Sela was arrested for receiving stolen property, elder abuse, and a number of drug charges.
