Spike Strips Used To End Pursuit In Santa Barbara County

Posted on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 1:35pm

The CHP used spike strips to end a wild chase on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County.

It started just after 4 p.m. yesterday, on the northbound 101 near Gaviota State Beach, when the CHP received reports of a vehicle being driven erratically.  The car then turned around, and started heading southbound.  A CHP car tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver continued to flee south.

Officers were able to temporarily block traffic just outside of Goleta, and put out spike strips which blew out the tires on the car, and stopped it.  Kathryn Lafazan of Santa Ana was arrested on multiple charges.  No one was hurt.
