Carpinteria Cut Flower Growers Among Those Worried About Impacts Of Imported Flowers On Industry

Santa Barbara County agricultural officials say the cut flower crop in the county generates more than $100 million dollars a year in revenue.

But, in recent years the flower industry locally, and nationally, has been hard hit by imported flowers, which have lower production costs.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports local growers are trying to raise awareness through a “Buy American” campaign, and this week will open their greenhouses in Carpinteria area for free tours.
