Hearing On Controversial Proposal To House Tigers In Ventura County Posponed Until Next Week

Posted on Thursday, March 13, 2014 11:31am

A Ventura County Planning Commission hearing on a controversial proposal to house tigers at a facility in the county originally set for today has been postponed until next Thursday.

The hearing on the request for a permit to keep up to five of the big cats on the 11000 block of Pacific View Avenue, outside of Malibu is now set for March 20th.

Animal trainer Irena Hauser and her sister, Sophia had applied for a permit to build a facility for some rare white tigers which are used for photo, and film shoots.

Hundreds of people were on hand for the first part of the hearing February 13th, with many neighbors objecting to the plans, saying they are concerned about the potential for the tiger to escape, and cause a safety threat.
