State Assemblyman From Ventura County Proposes Making California Secretary Of State’s Post Non-Partisan

Posted on Friday, March 7, 2014 12:46am

A state assemblyman from the South Coast says the responsibilities of California’s Secretary of State are too important to be potentially swayed by partisan politics.

Republican Assemblyman Jeff Gorell of Camarillo wants to do something about it, by asking voters to pass a constitutional amendment to make the post non-partisan.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports Gorell joined forces with a former Democratic assemblyman, and a former Secretary of State in Sacramento yesterday to formally announce the effort.
