Central Coast City Puts Restrictions On E-Cigarette Use

Posted on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 3:22pm

A Central Coast City has moved to put the same types of restrictions on

e-cigarettes that currently apply to other forms of tobacco use.

The new Santa Maria City Council ban applies to public buildings, businesses, and other enclosed spaces.

People can still smoke on sidewalks, in parks, and in tobacco stores, and of course in private homes and hotel rooms where smoking is permitted.

The ordinance basically treats e-cigarettes the same way it treats conventional cigarettes.

Buellton already has similar limits on e-cigarettes in place.

The health impacts of e-cigarettes are still unclear.
