Ventura County Woman Get Year Jail Sentence For Mortgage Fraud Case Which Cost Some Their Homes

Posted on Friday, February 28, 2014 12:20am

A Ventura County woman has been sentenced to a year in jail, and three years probation after entering guilty pleas to more than a half dozen charges from a fraudulent home loan, and foreclosure rescue program.

Prosecutors say Gloria Becerra operated multiple programs throughout Southern California which offered to help financially troubled homeowners avoid foreclosure.  They say the 49 year old woman illegally collected about $78,000 in up-front fees without providing actual services.

Some of the homeowners ended up losing their homes.  In addition to the jail sentence, the 49 year old woman has paid $60,000 in restitution.
