New Statistics Show Significant Drop In Violent Cime For Much Of Ventura County

Some just released crime statistics show an overall sharp drop in violent crime for much of Ventura County.

The numbers for parts of the county served by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department show a 9% drop in violent crime, and a 6% reduction in non-violent crimes like burglary when comparing 2012 to 2013.

But, the numbers weren’t down everywhere in the county.

In cities served by the Sheriff’s Department, violent crime was up 20% in Camarillo, 13% in Fillmore, and 8% in Ojai from year to year.

Violent crime dropped 11% on Thousand Oaks, and 10% in Moorpark in a year to year comparison.

In unincorporated parts of the county patrolled by Sheriff’s deputies, violent crime dropped 22% in 2013, compared to 2012.
