Wreckage Of Missing Plane Found Off Central Coast; Removal Efforts Being Planned For Investigation

Posted on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 12:46am

The wreckage of a plane which crashed off the Central Coast in January has been discovered, but the bodies of the two men believed to be on board haven’t been found.

Members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department Underwater Search, and Recovery Team found a large debris field off the coast of Oceano.

Following hundreds of hours of searching following the January 14th crash, on Sunday divers discovered what appears to be the wing, the fuselage, and other parts of the aircraft.

The Sheriff’s Department is now working with the National Transportation Safety Board on recovering the wreckage, which investigators will need to try to determine the cause of the crash.

David Casey and Alan Gaynor were both believed to be on board the plane when it plunged into the ocean.
