Man Involved In Fatal Oxnard Shooting In December Becomes Murder Victim

Posted on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 3:25pm

A Ventura County man involved in a fatal shooting last year in which he wasn’t charged is now a murder victim.

Austin Martin of Oxnard died Tuesday, three days after he was shot.

The 23 year old man was shot at about 9:30 Friday night, on the 200 block of West Juniper Street.

No suspects have been identified in the killing.

On December 20th of last year, Martin was involved in a fatal shooting in the same neighborhood where he was shot.

Detectives say he shot and killed 29 year old Jackie Williams.  That case was still under investigation, but detectives say it appeared to be self-defense, and Martin wasn’t charged.

At this point, the investigators don’t think the two cases are related.
