Central Coast University’s Fraternities, Sororities Adopt Policy On Parties

Posted on Thursday, February 13, 2014 3:04pm

Fraternities, and sororities at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo have agreed on a new policy to try to keep parties under control.

The new party registration policy adopted by the Greek Life organizations, and then approved by Cal Poly’s Student Affairs Division will limit party times, party locations, and curb potentially dangerous drinking games.

Parties will no longer be allowed to last more than five hours, and sponsors will have to insure there is no underage drinking, and use wristbands.  Hard alcohol, kegs, and shots were already banned.  Organizations which violate the rules could have their right to throw parties suspended.

The policy’s approval ends a month long ban on parties, because fraternities and sororities couldn’t come up with a policy by the end of the winter quarter.
