Central Coast Man Gets 10 Year Prison Sentence For Placing Cameras In Teenage Girl’s Bedroom, Bathroom

Posted on Friday, February 7, 2014 10:59am

A Central Coast man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison, and will have to register as a sex offender for life after pleading guilty to charges he placed a hidden video camera in a neighbors house to record the activities of a teenage girl.

Santa Barbara County prosecutors say Scott Kurtis Childers was able to record the 13 year old girl in her bedroom, and bathroom with the hidden camera.  They say the 25 year old Santa Maria man also set up a false identity as a teenage boy on the internet, which he used to contact several teenage girls.

Childers pled guilty to burglary, and possession of child pornography charges, as well as for contacting minors with the intent to commit a sex crime.
