State Assembly Approves Drone Privacy Legislation Co-authored By Ventura County Assemblyman

Posted on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 1:26pm

The State Assembly passed a bill co-authored by a Ventura County assemblyman intended to protect the rights of Californians against drones.

AB 1327 would require law enforcement agencies using drones to obtain warrants, mandate agencies make public they are using drones, and limit the amount of time that data collected from the unmanned craft can be stored.

It was co-authored by Republican Assemblyman Jeff Gorell of Camarillo.

The legislation now goes to the State Senate for consideration.
