The state is holding public hearings in Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties on efforts to monitor, and regulate the controversial oil, and gas industry use of fracking. The two hearings have different focuses.
Tomorrow, the state Department of Conservation will hold a hearing in Ventura to get comments on elements the public thinks should be in the environmental impact report to analyze the impacts of well stimulation treatments.
The hearing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, at the Ventura College Performing Arts Center.
Then, next week, in Santa Maria, the state agency will hold a public hearing on the overall proposed regulations as a result of a new state fracking law, SB 4.
That hearing will take place from 3-7 p.m. Monday, in the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors hearing room.
