Central Coast Woman Accused Of Stabbing Cat To Death, Charged With Animal Cruelty

Posted on Friday, January 3, 2014 4:43pm

A Central Coast woman has been accused of animal cruelty, after Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives say she went to her ex-boyfriend’s home, and stabbed a cat to death.

Deputies were called to a home on the 4600 block of Hummel Drive in Orcutt around 3:30 Thursday afternoon, by reports a woman was removing paintings which didn’t belong to her, and was choking a cat.  Officers say they found Nellie Marie Palacious in the home’s yard, and discovered a cat which had been fatally injured with a knife.  They found a knife under a doghouse in the yard.  Deputies say the 36 year old Santa Maria woman told them she had killed the cat in self-defense.

Several paintings, and other items were found in the woman’s car, so in addition to animal cruelty, Palacious was arrested for burglary.
