A Christmas night brush fire in Ventura County is now being called suspicious in origin, and fire officials are looking for anyone who may have seen any unusual activity in the area at the time.
The fire was discovered just after 10 p.m. last Wednesday near Box Canyon. Fire conditions were extremely dangerous at the time, with strong wind, and low humidity. Firefighters took the unusual step of using water dropping helicopters at night.
They were able to protect the homes in the area, and contain the blaze to around eight acres. No structures were damaged, and no one was hurt.
