Posted on Monday, December 23, 2013 3:26pm

A Central Coast woman blamed for triggering a fatal three vehicle traffic collision in the Santa Ynez Valley is now facing a murder charge.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office filed the new charge against Rebecca Sandoval of Lompoc for the December 19th crash.

Investigators say the 37 year old woman was approaching an intersection on Highway 246 near the Chumash Casino when she failed to stop for a red light, and plowed into a stopped vehicle at the intersection, causing it to hit a third.

The driver of the second vehicle, Linda Wall of Buellton, was fatally injured.

Two people in the third vehicle suffered minor injuries.

In addition to the murder charge, Sandoval is accused of felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and felony driving under the influence of drugs causing great bodily injury.
