Tuesday Morning Missile Launch Planned From Central Coast

Posted on Monday, December 16, 2013 12:06pm

A test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile is set to take place from Santa Barbara County tomorrow.

The Air Force is planning to send up an unarmed Minuteman III missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base tomorrow morning.  There’s a six hour launch window, from 1:39 to 7:39 a.m.  It’s the 12th planned Minuteman launch from the base this year.   Air Force officials say the first 11 test missions in 2013 were all successful.

It’s the last launch planned for the base for 2013, but Air Force officials say they already have a busy launch schedule planned for 2014.
