Federal Grant Keeps Ventura Fire Station In Operation

Posted on Monday, December 16, 2013 12:17pm

A federal grant is going to help a South Coast community keep a fire station open which had to be closed a few years ago due to tight finances.

The City of Ventura received a $2.4 million dollar from FEMA through the federal government’s “SAFER” program.

The city’s Fire Station #4 was closed in 2010 over budget issues, but it reopened early last year through a federal “SAFER” grant.

The new grant will allow the city to keep nine full time firefighting positions in place, and continue to keep the Telephone Road station open 24 hours a day.
